Write more letters, we’ll make sure they’re beautiful
Whether sending an invitation to mark one of life’s biggest moments, staying in touch with an old friend, or following up with a client the old fashioned way - make your message worthy of being framed on the wall. Custom stationery made from scratch using fine art materials and techniques.
The Process
Bring intention to your message with artful custom stationery made from scratch.
Here’s how we take you from raw material to artful vessel for your message to the world
-
First we’ll get on the same page about what your message will say to the world. Invitations for a special event? Adding a handmade touch to a follow-up for special clients? Or keeping in touch with loved ones and reviving the hand written word as part of daily life.
Fred will work personally with you to best select elements of craft and design to best suit your ideas. We will collaborate on:

Select a printing option that suits your design, budget, and desired “feel” of the resulting stationery to be received by friends, family and clients.
Fine Art Print: employ the techniques of fine art printmaking to send a premium, frameable work of art for every message you send. Hand carved wood block, lithography
Custom Letterpress: Select from vintage lead type or custom digital designs made into polymer blocks for an antique luxury to printed text inked and embossed into the surface of the paper. Best suited to monograms, logos, and short printed messages.
Inkjet: Beauty on a budget. Digital prints using archival dye based inks. Best for printed photos, small projects and smaller budgets.
-
After consultation and agreement on a design, sign a digital proof of your custom stationery only when it is just the way you want it, and production will begin! Sit back and relax.
Fiber Processed from Scratch: Raw materials such as plant fiber and recycled textiles will be cut and pulped. All fibers are processed from scratch in house at Fred Paper Co.
Forming Sheets: Using a mold and deckle, Fred will craft each sheet of your custom stationery by hand, one at a time. The water is pressed out and the sheets are hung to dry. This process creates a paper texture unique to the process of hand papermaking, not found in commercially produced stationery.
Printing: With the skill of an artist printmaker, each of your designs will be transfered to the newly crafted surface of your paper. Whether using traditional techniques and antique equipment, or contemporary digital methods, a uniform, bright and crisp edition will be the result felt by each recipient.
Custom Packaging: A box will be custom made to suit your order so that your stationery will remain protected and easily retrieved from a desktop or drawer near your best pens, when inspiration strikes to write a message.
-
Whether it’s love, gratitude, or good business, we believe a hand written note makes the world a better place.
Whatever you’re putting out into the world, the craft and intention behind the paper it is written on will be felt by its reader and serve to amplify your purpose.
